Meet Hank — a handsome, affectionate liver chestnut roan gelding with a big personality and a bigger heart. At 17 years old, Hank is an excellent trail partner! He is best suited for a calm, structured lifestyle with a confident handler and a consistent care routine. He is not a performance horse but shines as a walk/trot-only trail partner or companion with the right person. Riding Discipline Hank is strictly walk/trot only. He is most comfortable on long, straight trail rides or hand-walks. While he may offer more, he must not be asked to lope or perform advanced work. His ideal program includes gentle groundwork, walking under saddle, and continued stifle-friendly movement. Medical Background and Maintenance Hank came to me in November 2023 with signs of stiffness in his right stifle. After a full veterinary workup (X-rays and ultrasound), the diagnosis pointed to an old soft tissue injury — likely a tendon issue that had not been properly rehabbed. Since then, his condition has improved steadily with a strict care routine including: * Daily Equioxx * Stifle injections (last done July 2025) * 100X joint and topline supplements * Controlled exercise five to six days per week (trail and ground pole work) * Roundpen and hand-walking exercises to encourage stifle mobility He is barefoot with strong, healthy hooves. His hind feet self-trim due to his movement limitations, and trims are adjusted accordingly. Temperament and Training Hank is expressive, affectionate, and thrives on routine. He bonds strongly with his person and enjoys time together. He will walk up and show you exactly where he wants a scratch. Say “Hug,” and he’ll tuck his neck into your arms. He has excellent ground manners and a strong understanding of personal space. With consistent handling, he is respectful, calm, and cooperative. Turnout Needs and Reason for Sale Hank is not a good fit for my current herd dynamic. He becomes overly attached to pasture mates and struggles with buddy sourness, often vocalizing loudly if separated. His ideal setup is solo turnout, or turnout with a dominant companion that can keep his energy in check. He does very well in a stall or paddock with access to roam and is extremely respectful of fencing — even a single strand of tape will keep him in. Adoption and Price Details Price is $600. Including his medical history and care routine. However, I am open to adopting him out at no cost or trade for an older babysitter companion horse if the right home can provide proof of financial ability to maintain his ongoing veterinary, supplement, and exercise regimen. A contract will be required to ensure Hank continues to receive the care he needs and deserves.
