The owner did not have adequate fencing for them, and they were getting loose. Rather than deal with fixing the fencing or the fines from them getting loose, they planned to shoot them and eat them. We brought them home to save their lives. Governor didn't even have a name, and was a stallion. He was emaciated and completely neglected. We immediately vaccinated, dewormed, blanketed, and started feeding him. A few weeks later, he was gelded. We later found out through DNA testing that he is a Mustang, and at his dental exam, that he is only 2 years old! This poor baby has been through it all! He has undergone 30 days of ground training, during which his trainer described him as incredibly bright and vocal, and predicted that he will make an excellent obstacle, western dressage, or trail horse when he is old enough to start under saddle. Governor's adoption donation will cover his expenses, including his gelding surgery, dental exam, 30 days of training, vaccinations, and dewormer. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit. All donations are tax-deductible.
