Meet Lucy, approximately 20 years old (unregistered). Please take the time to read as this ad holds important information. **** She requires an intermediate rider and owner that has experience, patience and confidence as she can be timid and hot. She does better with someone who can be a leader and to be of guidance. Having the time to work and bond with this mare will be and is mportant. Once you gain this mares trust she is very sweet, willing and will love you like no other. She will nicker at you and come right up to you ready to start her day with you. Lunges and listens to cues amazingly. She’s ok for fly spray, she can become a nervous nelly when the spray is applied but will stand once she realizes the spray isn’t going to hurt her 🤭 She loves her baths - will become slightly inpatient when she decides she wants to be done but does well for the most part. She loves having a job, as well as her attention. She loves being brushed, loved up on! Does great when picking out her feet and for the farrier *gets her feet done every 6 weeks*. Great for vet, too :) She has only been used for arena work, some trail riding here and there on the property where she’s boarded currently. She does ok but she is better in the arena. Does well in an indoor arena but can be a spitfire and stubborn when outside (hence why she requires an intermediate, confident rider). She has remained on property for the last 4 years, and has not been used for much trail riding off property, she has a hard time being loaded into the trailer but once in she’s great and loads off fine. She has the “go” but will listen if you would like to take it slow and easy. She does well at the walk, trot and canter but has a hard time cantering clock-wise (cross cantering in hind-end) but is perfect at the canter counter clock-wise. She’s one of the dominant mares in her herd that has 3 other horses, we feel she would do best with a smaller herd. No more than 4-5 horses. She can be buddy sour once she starts to bond with other horses. ****She has some arthritis in both her hocks. Before she came to us she did some barrel racing. Every 6 months she has received Zycosan, which was recommended by our vet to keep her comfortable. She has responded well. Every once in a while the current owner will have a massage therapist out to give her massages to release some tension and to do some magna-wave work. She absolutely loves it!!! Very expressive 😆 She also has received a joint supplement, as well. She does have muscle atrophy, left side of her back where saddle sits. She is up-to-date on vaccinations and will have no issue sending over her vaccinations from this year to her new owner.
