Riesling is a registered/branded Oldenburg NA mare, born Aug/07/2008. She was graded as a Premium Filly at her inspection. Standing at 15.2 hands, she is sired by the well-known stallion Red Wine and out of (tb) Whiztar, this pedigree gives her an excellent combination of refinement, athleticism, and versatility.
She has lovely conformation with a beautiful feminine head and is a phenomenal mover, consistently passes that quality on to her foals. A proven broodmare, Riesling is easy to breed—successfully bred both via AI and live cover—and has been a reliable, attentive mother.rnrnLike many “red mares,” Riesling has plenty of presence and spicy personality. She will test boundaries and can bluff with pinned ears or attitude if she thinks she can get away with it. With experienced, confident handling, she is straightforward to manage and genuinely enjoys being groomed, worked with and fussed over. I repeat if you are timid, she is NOT the horse for you as she can be a downright red heifer depending on the day! She is utd on all her vaccinations, coggins, dewormings and has has had her teeth done within the past year. Last foal was 2 years ago and she is currently open. She has a small scar on her left eye from an old pasture injury, completely healed and does not seem to affect her daily life or vision. She is sound and healthy! In general, she is an easy keeper without needing extra daily grain for maintenance and is mid tier in our herd hierarchy. She can be safely turned out with mares, geldings and other mares with foals. Riesling has had extensive groundwork done, trailers well and was started under saddle in dressage and hunters, but she’s been dedicated to broodmare duties for the past several years. As such Im selling her as a broodmare or a green project. She would make a fantastic addition to a breeding program looking to add quality bloodlines, conformation and movement.
