Casper is a handsome 12-year-old, 15-hand grey gelding with the kind of background families spend a long time searching for. He has been ridden by a young girl, enjoyed on family trail rides, hauled to playdays, and used on the ranch. He has years of miles behind him, and through all of it, kindness has remained at the center of who he is. This isn’t a horse whose story comes only from an arena. Casper has been out, hauled around, exposed to different situations, and asked to take care of different jobs and riders. Trail riding is where Casper really shines. He will confidently head out alone or ride in a group and is content leading, following, or traveling anywhere in between. Water, bridges, rocks, brush, logs, hills, narrow trails, and changing terrain are all part of his experience. He pays attention to where he’s going and makes a day on the trail something you can simply enjoy. He’s equally comfortable when life gets busy around him. Casper has been ridden along the road and around traffic, vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, dogs, and everyday commotion. Flags, tarps, balls, pool noodles, dragging objects, and different obstacles are all things he takes in stride. Casper has earned his keep on the ranch as well. He’s been used around cattle and understands having a job to do. Take him into the arena and he has a nice, uncomplicated handle. He will walk, trot, and lope, take his leads, neck rein, back, and stop with ease. When the riding is finished, he’s still the same pleasant gelding. Casper is easy to catch, groom, bathe, saddle, bridle, and haul, and he handles his feet well. He’s comfortable living in a stall or turned out in the pasture and settles easily into a routine. At 15 hands, he’s a wonderful size for both adults and younger riders. At 12 years old, he has something even more valuable—experience that has been earned one ride at a time. You can teach a horse maneuvers and expose one to obstacles, but the patience and good nature it takes to carry a little girl, spend days with a family, head down the trail, work on the ranch, and continue showing up with the same willing attitude—that’s what makes Casper stand apart. He isn’t being marketed as a family horse because it sounds good in an ad. He’s already lived that life. Horses like Casper have a way of becoming more than the horse standing out in the pasture. They become part of childhoods, family weekends, long trail rides, first adventures, and those ordinary afternoons that somehow turn into the memories you hol
