Big Easy
They don’t call him Big Easy for nothing! He’s BIG, he’s EASY, and yes… he even comes with his own mustache. What more could you possibly want?
Big Easy is a 9-year-old blue roan Draft Cross gelding standing approximately 16–16.1 hands tall. He’s the kind of horse that makes people stop what they’re doing and come over for a closer look. Maybe it’s his gorgeous blue roan color, his big stout build, or that adorable little mustache—but once they meet him, it’s usually his sweet personality and kind eye that win them over.
If you’re looking for a trail horse that can carry you all over the country and look pretty darn cool doing it, Big Easy would like to submit his application.
He’s traveled many miles of trails and is comfortable heading out alone or riding in a group. Despite his size, he’s an incredibly comfortable horse to ride with a smooth walk, trot, and lope. He’s definitely more whoa than go, which has earned him a very important qualification around here: husband-horse approved. He isn’t interested in getting anywhere before you are. Point him down the trail, settle into the saddle, and enjoy your day.
Although most of Big Easy’s experience has been out on the trails, we’ve been introducing him to more arena work and he’s taken right to it. He’s primarily been ridden Western but has also done some English riding and looks pretty darn handsome doing that too. He’s an intelligent horse, enjoys learning, and tries to understand what you’re asking rather than getting flustered when something is new.
One of the things we love most about Big Easy is that he’s a relationship kind of horse. Give him a little time to get to know you, and before long you’ve got yourself a 1,500-ish-pound best buddy following you around. He’s sweet without being obnoxious about it, enjoys attention, and is just an enjoyable horse to have in the barn.
For a big guy, he’s also refreshingly uncomplicated to handle. Big Easy picks up all four feet easily and is good for the farrier and veterinarian. He has excellent feet and is currently kept barefoot without any trouble. He loads, bathes, tacks up, stands tied, and handles the everyday routine like the gentleman he is.
Big Easy would be a wonderful choice for someone wanting a big, comfortable, easygoing trail partner with enough brains and willingness to continue developing in other directions.
