Splash is an excellent trail horse with a great personality to match. He's proven himself safe, brave and honest. He's the first to greet you at the gate, eager for a treat and loves attention. He isn't much of an arena horse - but that doesn't mean he couldn't be one day. Our focus is trails so that's where he's experienced. He recently completed the fall john Wayne trail ride with his 12 year old partner. They spent many more miles in the saddle preparing. We used a hi-tie system over night that he took to wonderfully. He stood tied to trees during the 90 minute turn around of moving camps. He went over many bridges, trestles and through tunnels. Even the snoqualmie tunnel that is 2.3 miles long and pitch black! He did great being ridden with a headlamp. He does have some quirks so a beginner rider isn't recommended - however my confident 12 year old can handle said quirks beautifully. He can ride out solo and cross the rivers bravely - although a random puddle may bother him. He will resist loading at first - however I've never been unable to load him within minutes. He has never offered to buck, kick or bite. He has resisted by planting his feet. As an example - he planted his feet at a bridge when we first started hauling out. We ponied him over with a more experienced horse and he didn't do that at the bridge again. He's safe - but stubborn when those feet plant - so a confident rider to ride through those moments can make or break his success. We adore him and are in no hurry to place him. My daughter is looking to pursue jumping so sadly we need to lighten our load before we can allow her to do so. Splash is good for the farrier. He is sound barefoot. He does have a full set on currently to minimize wear just from the number of miles we've been doing. He is club footed but this causes no limitations. I have his registration papers from both the Pinto horse association of America and the Arabian horse association as a half Arabian. I have many - many - many pictures and videos of our adventures.
