5-Year-Old OTTB Gelding (15.3hh)
River is a 15.3-hand, 5-year-old OTTB gelding who has been restarted off the track and is proving to be a fun, willing all-around partner. He has been ridden both English and Western, making him a versatile prospect for a variety of disciplines.
He has a solid foundation and is easy to work with—River lunges, loads, and rides quietly. He is more go than whoa and truly enjoys having a job, but he is honest with no buck, bolt, or bad habits. He has been out on the trails, over small cross rails, and through trail obstacle courses.
On the ground, River is easy to catch, gets along well in a herd setting, and is not hard to keep. He has a good mind and thrives with consistent work and a rider who enjoys a forward, motivated horse.
He has been leased by westernars and participated in drill team. He has done some lessons but would be best to keep on a lunge line for beginner beginners.
River does have some arthritis in his front legs and requires minor daily maintenance (one pill per day) to stay comfortable. With this simple routine, he continues to be happy and useful and would make a fantastic all-around horse for the right person.
