Meet Brody, a 13-year-old, 13.0-hand pony gelding who is a true pleasure to ride and a wonderful trail partner. He’s been in our family for about 1.5 years after we purchased him from the Billings auction, prior history is unknown. Brody excels in a variety of settings: • Trail experience: confident on trails, crosses water and bridges, and keeps up with larger horses. • Arena & turnout: great in new arenas and comfortable with other horses and ponies in turnout. • Traffic & hauling: loads and hauls well. Road safe. • Temperament: calm and easy under saddle, a 9-year-old child has been happily riding him regularly for the last year and a half. He can also be ridden bareback. Brody can sit for weeks off and come back right to work, making him ideal for a family that enjoys occasional trail rides or fun rides in the arena. • Brody needs light sedation for clipping and farrier work, though he’s improving with the farrier and may soon not need sedation. • He can be hard to catch in large turnout areas, so we keep a catch strap on him. He can also be a little leery of people on the ground, this makes him better suited to someone with a bit of experience. Once under saddle he's pretty unflappable. I believe his past history is to blame for this. With more handling, he does better. Stands nicely tied to trailer. Health & Records: • Up-to-date on teeth & vaccines. • No known soundness issues. Suitable Home: Brody would thrive in a horse-savvy, experienced home, he’s safe and fun to ride, but his quirks mean he’s not ideal for a complete novice. We’d consider a trial lease to the right home and are not in a hurry to sell, just looking for Brody to have the attention and use he deserves, as our daughter’s interests have shifted.
