Reno 10 year old mustang gelding. 15hh stout, titled. UTD on shots and Teeth, will be seeing a farrier now that quarantine is over. Reno would be best suited as a personal horse, not a lesson program horse, and as such I’ve decided to start the search for him to find a good home. He would thrive in a trail riding home. He is happiest living outside, does well in stalls with regular turnout. Reno would be best suited with an intermediate rider as he does have some training issues. He has an intermittent and recurring issue with rearing on the ground. I think he would be happiest as someone’s trail horse, as he seems to prefer outdoor riding. I have ridden him alone and in groups with no issues. The only time he rears on the ground is when he’s being pushed past his comfort zone, and given his less than ideal past I can understand why. He was beaten before I got him. From what I can tell the rearing comes up mostly when I ask him to be more of a show and performance horse. So if you are okay with just a lazy horse and don’t expect him to go win buckles he’s perfect. He’s gone to a couple shows, same horse on and off property. Reno has been used in lessons for anyone from 3-70 but doesn’t enjoy it. He gets frustrated with different people and prefers a one on one relationship. He’s strong, so not for little solo riders. He’s an excellent leadline horse, I’ve helped a couple students learn to canter with him. If you know how to ride he’s a super fun ride. I’ve ridden him down roads, I pony horses off him occasionally, trail ride, canter him down trails at potato creek, started jousting on him, and he’s my go to for going anywhere. I used him to marshal a show, in front of a cheering crowd, standing at the trailer for the day. He’s done two shows off property that I know of, one dressage and one speed. He is not patterned at all. He’s starting to get the idea but not a speed horse. He’s good to load and will stand at the trailer all day for shows no problem. Good to bathe, I haven’t clipped anything other than his brand. He’s hardy, never had to blanket him he loves being outside but is perfectly fine stalled as well. He is good to catch, and super friendly. The problem there is he’s pushy and mouthy and needs healthy boundaries. As long as you keep those he’s a delight. He will go over anything I ask, pretty much the same horse any time you ride. He’s lazy in an indoor, more forward and happy outside. He is a happy trail horse and seems to love that, so that’s what I’m looking for. He needs someone to love him for what he is and not force him to be something he isn’t. Not in a rush and a good home is a must. He’s a great horse just needs HIS person. South Bend IN 46614 X,xxx middle. Please note, we’ve just ended quarantine, he has been cooped up with no turnout, so he is pent up. With regular turnout he’s a happy horse but this winter and the lack of turnout has been hard on him. He is UTD on vaccines and teeth, farrier coming soon.
