Bud is a 9-year-old Mustang gelding standing 14.3 hands, born in the wild in Utah's Blawn Wash HMA. He has been with me since he was two and has hundreds of hours under saddle, including 18+ months of professional training over five years. It's rare to find a Mustang with this level of training and foundation.
He's a nice horse who is generally more "whoa" than "go,” but will do a job when asked. What keeps him from being a beginner horse is his lack of personal accountability in other words he needs a leader who won't allow halfhearted efforts.
Bud is smart and appreciates consistency, making him best suited for someone with strong horsemanship and leadership skills who enjoys building a true partnership.
In the arena, Bud is relaxed and enjoyable. Outside the arena, he can be curious and alert in new surroundings. He looks to his rider for confidence and reassurance and continues to grow with consistent exposure to new environments and solo trail riding.
Bud has been trail ridden dozens of times, crossed water, navigated hills, overnight camped, attended clinics, and enjoys riding with groups. He has been ridden both English and Western, with experience in introductory dressage, obstacle work, and ranch riding. He enjoys having a job and does best in a consistent program.
He has excellent ground manners, trailers well, ties, stands quietly for the farrier, and has always been kept barefoot with strong, healthy feet.
This is a difficult decision, as Bud has been my partner for the past seven years. Finding the right home is my top priority, and I will be selective. I value my horses as family and would love to see him with someone who will appreciate him, continue his education, and enjoy the partnership he has to offer.
