Own a true piece of the American West. Born in the wild in the Blawn Wash, Utah HMA, Bud lived free until he was gathered at 2 years old. Today, he represents the best of both worlds, natural instinct paired with years of quality training, consistency, and care. Seven years later, Bud is a 9 year old Mustang gelding standing 14.3 hands with a solid, consistent foundation. He has been with the same owner since he was 2 and has been developed with time, patience, and guidance from professional trainers, with a focus on creating a well-rounded, dependable horse. Bud has hundreds of hours of training, including over 18 months of professional training span over five years. It is rare to find a Mustang with this level of care and foundation. He is soft, responsive, and well-balanced with a solid walk, trot, and canter. He is sensitive, intuitive, and enjoys a rider who wants a thinking, engaged partner. Bud has personality and feel, with a willing attitude and desire to please. He is best suited for a confident, calm rider who appreciates a sensitive horse and can provide reassurance and direction. Not suited for beginners. In the arena, he is relaxed and enjoyable. Outside, he can be a bit looky and occasionally rushy or offer small spooks, but stays responsive and comes back to his rider. He does best with someone who supports him and builds his confidence. Bud has been trail ridden extensively, including Kettle Moraine and Castle Rock. He has experience with water, hills, group rides, clinics, overnight camping, and show environments. He has been ridden both English and Western, with experience in Intro Dressage, obstacle work, and exposure to cattle. Bud is worked regularly and does best in a consistent program. He is naturally lower energy but responsive when asked. He has good ground manners, stands for the farrier, is barefoot with solid feet, and trailers well. Bud may take a little time to settle into new environments, but once comfortable, he is a fun and rewarding partner. If you are looking for a well-trained Mustang with a strong foundation and real-world experience, Bud is ready to continue developing with his next rider. He is a great fit for someone wanting to build a partnership with a smart, sensitive horse.
