Tapit Grandbaby! Ameliorate, Mel, is a very sweet (not mare-ish) girl. She has great ground manners, stands on cross ties, clips, great for the farrier and vet. Mel loves and wants to be loved on, “puppy dog” personality, wants to please. Mel is a very smart girl, and picks up new tasks quickly. I can see her excel well in Eventing, Dressage or Jumper ring. 4/12/2026 – Mel finally had her first post track ride (WTC). Oh my lord, was she a doll! Despite being a little emotional/calling back to the horses in the barn that were calling out to her, she was exceptionally brave and smart. No Buck, Rear, Spin. Very easy snaffle right with 3 balanced gaits, and she picked up both leads very easy. She was really wanting to seek and accept the contact. Mel is going to do very well in any ring or discipline you want to put her in. I can see her flying through the levels with how quickly she picks up on things. She was more “woah” than go for her first ride, but when I asked her to really move forward in the canter, she did with ease and I was able to bring her back very easy. Otherwise, she was perfectly happy maintaining the same pace that was set. Very Ammy-Junior Friendly! Mel accepts leg well and is learning to stay in front of it, soft and bending through her body. We don’t have an arena on the property and is easily ridden in an open field. Mel did retire from the track with knee chip fractures that were successfully removed at Mid-Atlantic on 10/18/2025. Since the chips were removed, she was cleared to begin a new career without any limitations. Her rehab was completed here and had the entire winter off just to be a horse. Mel has no other injuries and no vices. She is barefoot and sound. No spin/rear/buck.
