Roy is a sweet and sensitive boy who should end up somewhere close to 16 hands/1000 pounds. His mother is 15.2 and built like a barrel and his father was 15.1 and also a tank (that threw taller babies), so he should be nice and thick as well. He does tend towards needing re-assured when confronting new objects, but with a confident leader/rider he should do fine. He is a big noticer of things, so if you are looking for a liberty project horse that will notice the things like leans and breaths, he’s your boy! Beautiful free mover, approaches you in the lot for scritches. He is bright and curious but a little cautious of people because we have spent some time treating for both a hoof abscess and an eye ulcer in his less than two years of life. (Both entirely environmental and not genetic related) He’s getting better about it with time as interactions become more positive and less painful! Unfortunately he does still think the farrier is trying to steal his legs at trimming time, but tolerates it well enough with a patient farrier and someone to reassure him. Now with all of this said - I have no doubt in him blossoming into a wonderful trail/trick/liberty gelding. I have zero problem holding onto this boy and doing some training and charging double next summer. He has already worn a training bridle and a saddle pad with girth and not minded them at all. He has been ponied and seen some trails and creeks already as well. I have quite a few videos & reels of him and his training if you’re interested. Roy (and his half brother Rocket) are also the stars of an adorable children' s book (The Pony Who Said His Prayers) and I will include a copy with his sale! Located in NE Indiana, Papers in hand. Up to date on all healthcare. Message if you’re interested, if very interested I am happy to do phone or video calls to show him.
