Looking for a perfect forever home for a sweet, gentle, once in a lifetime mare. Unica is sensitive, spirited, and bonds deeply with her person. I bought her five years ago to save her from a bad situation, and I will be very picky about where she goes as she deserves the best possible life. She was eight when I started her under saddle using positive reinforcement, and she's been lightly ridden since then. She is exceptionally light and forward and feels like she's reading your mind once she knows you and feels safe. She needs a soft, gentle, confident, and balanced rider. She was doing well on the trails last summer, but would need more miles under her belt to become a steady trail horse. She doesn't buck, rear or bolt, but she freezes and/or spooks. Her rider needs to be calm and able to help her feel safe. She loves doing the Spanish Walk for cookies, and nickers at me when I take her to the mounting block in anticipation of her treat for standing nicely while I get on. She has always been barefoot, healthy and sound. She responds very well to positive reinforcement training! Tons of potential for liberty work, she loves doing groundwork. I would like to find someone who is in it for the relationship and will really spend a lot of time with her just being together and doing activities she enjoys. Someone who shares my belief of providing the necessities for ethical horse keeping- friends, forage, and freedom. She's middle of the herd in my group of three. I keep her on Altren (Regumate) as she is quite demonstrative when she's in heat. On the birth control she is much more content. I'm only selling her because three horses is too many for me to keep in shape, and I prefer riding my little Icelandics. The price is negotiable to the perfect home- I just want her to be happy. I'd also like first right of refusal if she ever needed to be re-homed again.
