Luther is a horse and human friendly gelding who loves a consistent job. He is mainly ridden with a dressage foundation, and would excel best in a home that can focus on those movements about 2-4x a week. He has a lovely walk and trot, is good off the leg but not too forward. He has a large canter stride (which can be sticky on the right lead). He can do shoulder in/fore, sidepass, turn on forehand/haunches, and was recently introduced to polo, which he picked up very well. (Does well on a straight approach and doesn't mind some wayward swings.) He goes out on trails alone and with a group, but can be forward outside of the arena. He is very rider intuitive, does well with kids and puppies, and enjoys new things. While he does appreciate human interaction and mental stimulation, he does not enjoy extensive grooming or petting. He does well with baths, and will let you play with his mane and tail as long as you want, but prefers a basic quick curry and medium brush over his body before tacking. Luther has been turned out with mixed and separate herds. He does well in smaller groups, and lands mid/upper pack. He comes when called. He has mostly been stalled overnight, but prefers longer turnouts, especially with friends to play with. Stands well for vet and farrier (front shoes currently on), loads well and is calm in new places. Luther has been with us for 4 1/2 years, and is in his best condition since we bought him, making this the best time for his last home. He is being sold/leased due to primary rider going to college. We would love to be able to stay in touch with next owner, but is not required. Luther is looking for his last forever home and person, and would be a great ride for an adult amateur looking for someone to practice dressage skills with, or a junior ready for their next horse to learn from. Videos available upon request. PPE done at buyer's expense.
