Hendrix – 15.2h | 12 yrs | Quiet, Experienced Trail & Family Horse – Special Home Required
Hendrix is a 12-year-old, 15.2 hand gelding with a calm, kind personality and a heart of gold. He is a very special horse who has been part of my life since he was 3 years old, and finding the right home for him is my top priority.
Hendrix has extensive trail experience and has also worked as a therapeutic riding horse as well as a ground therapy horse. He is steady, level-headed, and enjoys having a job, but he is just as happy playing at liberty and spending time with his person. After only a couple months under saddle when he was young, I was able to canter him bareback and bridleless in an open field — he has always had an exceptional mind and willingness to please.
Hendrix is best suited for low-impact riding. He was diagnosed with navicular, but he is currently sound barefoot and does well using boots for rough terrain or longer rides. He occasionally receives Equioxx when he gets sore-footed, typically about one week every couple of months. His biggest maintenance requirement is a low-sugar diet and good weight management. He does best in a dry paddock with minimal mud.
He would make a fantastic family horse, companion horse, or light trail partner for someone who wants a safe, kind, and trustworthy gelding.
This is a very difficult decision, but I am moving and need to reduce my herd. A good home is absolutely essential for this horse, and I will be selective about where he goes.
