Available for partial-lease beginning 4/1/2026. “Timber,” a 16.2 hh, 19-year-old, dark bay, large-bodied thoroughbred. Pictures available upon request. He has been our family’s primary mount since early 2024 and ridden by my 12-year-old daughter and I in lessons and schooling shows. He is best suited for an advanced/confident beginner or intermediate rider (or beginner like me with close trainer supervision ) due to his strong personality. He is well-loved, but we joke that he can be “spicy.” He is intelligent and hardworking. Timber is slowly recovering from a chronic left hind tendon injury and has been cleared by the vet for flatwork only at this time (no jumping). This also means he needs someone who will be mindful of his workload and attentive to his comfort level. He is trained in the English Hunter discipline, but also enjoys trails and has been ridden with a Western saddle too. If you or your child are looking for a horse to practice flatwork with or just to get more horse-time in, then this is your guy. Lease is on-site where he lives in Orange County, Virginia. We can discuss if you want to take him out to trails or shows, though. Lessons with on-site trainer (not included in price) will be required to ensure good fit (duration of this can be negotiated). Lease can be prorated based on day of month initiated, and is month-to-month or as discussed. Fee grants 3 riding days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays (except for one Saturday approximately every other month with notice); days are negotiable. There is flexibility. You can use his tack. We pay farrier, vet, board, etc. so this is a great opportunity to have time with a horse without the stress of all the extra expenses. However, we may consider lease-to-own if it’s the perfect fit for him. He is very well-loved by our family and we have no plans to sell him, though. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
