I choose Roam at the track for his above average type, excellent walk and lofty gaits. He is the 16th OTTB I’ve re-schooled and the nicest overall quality. He’s been meticulously and thoughtfully let down after coming to me the day after his last race, quite anxious, took my time with this one. He made a major decompression change on day 42, showing relaxation and feeling better in his body. I focused on his physical and mental health, x-rays, farrier, teeth, ulcer supplements, turn-out, and lots of ground work, liberty sessions, before first rides after 4 months. Roam has grown ¾”, nearing 16.3, and filled out extensively overall in his body since he arrived. He’s responded really well to soft handling, calm corrections and positive reinforcement of expectations. Greets me at the gate with enthusiasm. First rides exceeded expectations with obedience and relaxation. The quality of his gaits, suppleness, natural balance and cadence can be felt under saddle. Lovely to sit trot, soft mouth accepting of the leg and outside rein. He is brave and curious with new situations and has been worked on the ground over obstacles. If my life circumstances were different, this is the one I would keep and take to RRP! Roam will excel in any discipline, however, I’d love to see him going up the levels in Eventing with his long gallop stride or he could do very well in Dressage or the Hunter ring. Sound and ready to mold into your own! Lots of videos available and a weekly progression spreadsheet.
