Meet Piper a 13 Year old Grade mare standing 14.3h and has an extremely nice athletic/ stocky build to her .
Piper has dabbled in a bit of it all. She was a finished barrel horse clocking in the 3D with some tuff competition traveling to out of state races a lot three years ago , her current owners have just dabbled around for fun the last 3 years at small local jackpots and still clock in the 18s on a standard pattern. She’s very automatic and with the right quiet jockey I think she has more to give too! She has played with sorting and penning and absolutely loves the cows and can be very catty right up on them. After evaluating her in the box I believe She has definitely been either a heel or breakaway horse at some point as well. She knows exactly what to do and can get a little amped up and impatient when she knows it’s her time to come out of the box , however I think with a little refresher on patience she would make a excellent heel / breakaway prospect again. She doesn’t mind helping with all the chaos that goes on with pushing the cows through the chute , closing the gate , opening the chute etc (you’ll see me working the chute on her in her video above). Piper has also done some trail coarse competitions and really try’s at whatever the task is in front of her . In the arena she is extremely smooth and easy to ride . Very body broke just steer with your eyes type of gal . Walk , trott , lopes beautiful correct circles with a very low light hand . She will neck rein or direct reign and has a killer stop.
I believe that Piper would love a home where she can play with cows , fun competition barrels , some ranch work like brandings or cattle drives etc. She most definitely has a working mindset but also doesn’t mind just playing around having fun with her rider . Piper is very safe and doesn’t have a mean or dangerous bone in her body, but she can get into that working mindset so I would recommend intermediate and above . Piper stands tied and loads like a dream . Very easy keeper with no current maintenance needed . She did have a very mild front right DDFT tear in 2024 but it was cleared and good as new , you would never even know it happened (records are provided ) however your welcome to a PPE at your expense of course .
