Rusty is a stout built gelding. I purchased him last September, hoping to make a trial horse for when I compete with my pointing dogs. But after some tries, I don’t think Rusty will cut it for that. Just a bit too much going on for him at times. Hes safe around animals, vehicles, and isnt spooky. And overall pretty mellow. Ive shot guns around him, have had dogs running around him etc.. But definitely has some vices Id say he technically would be a little project. He loads perfectly, backs out without issues. We have been working on neck reining but still not there yet. Has a smooth gait. Vices I would say would be getting shod, previous owner kept him barefoot, but I keep fronts on him, since they wear out a bit in some of this country. He definitely not a fan of being hammered on. Can be a little stubborn, being away from his buddy. I have been also working on him taking his bit, and getting him to release it without jerking his head like he used to. But overall he has been doing a lot better. Rusty needs someone to put some consistent miles on him. And a basic tune up. I think with some time he will make a nice trail horse. But just not quite the horse I need for trials. Firm on Price. Which is what I purchased him for.
