Melody is broke to ride and drive (we have not driven her but have no hesitations if you want to come do that with her, she will pull a carriage or a wagon, etc.) and suitable for a broad range of riders. We have ridden her in the arena and on the trails, English and Western, and also bareback. She has a very comfortable w/t/c and picks up both of her leads smoothly and easily, with a lopey canter that will keep you smiling. She is easy to sit to, posting the trot is optional, she is very smooth and comfy like your favorite sofa. In the arena she is a little more of a kick type ride but moves out when asked, and on the trails she keeps a good, fun pace (see trail video). She is happy to lead or follow on the trails, she is not afraid of dogs or cows, will ride off from the trailer parking/not barnsour, crosses water with ease, and will even go for a dip. She is nimble for her big size and does fine going up and down hill and navigating through narrow trails - she is a real machine and still a handy enough size for mounting & dismounting out on the trail. She is not spooky and is the same horse whether ridden just on weekends or every day. She has not displayed herdbound behaviors and is fine by herself or with others. True to her heritage, she is a chill horse who takes everything in stride. She has never offered to buck, rear, bolt, etc. She stands well for mounting and is well-mannered under saddle and on the ground. Being 5 years old this Spring, there are still some things she can improve on a bit or add on, but she is very kind, easy-going, cooperative and suitable for a wide variety of rider levels. She's been with us for many months and this sweet loving affectionate lady has become family to us, it is important to us she finds a loving and great home. This is a very special and unique horse. She would make a very valuable hunt horse if you wanted to take her in that direction but she can really do anything - dressage, working equitation, hunting, low level eventing, vaulting, carriage and driving, therapeutic horse, lesson horse, family horse, husband horse, guest horse, western, trails, English, bareback - or all of the above. She is a rare offering and I believe Melody is the kind of horse who probably won't be for sale again. At her age, she has many years of service to provide and with her solid brain, athleticism, size, and good looks, she will be an asset in just about any barn across a wide variety of uses. She has the true laid back temperament that a draft crossed horse can expect to have. She is easy-going and also very friendly. She will greet you at the gate and loves attention. She is gentle and kind, curious, and loving. She has really great manners and is easy to handle. She picks up her big feet with ease and is great for the farrier (no stocks needed).
