Due to a cross-country move and ongoing financial constraints, I have made the difficult decision to find a new home for my mare. This decision comes from wanting what is best for her, and my priority is finding a knowledgeable, loving home where she can continue to thrive. She is an 11-year-old, 15-hand mare with a sweet, affectionate personality who enjoys attention and forming a bond with her person. She is broke to ride and was primarily used for pleasure riding, with some introductory barrel training. Although she has not been in regular work for the past two years, she has a solid foundation and would benefit from a refresher before returning to consistent riding. Under saddle, she is responsive to light aids and does not require heavy cueing. She listens well to both leg and voice commands and has always been a willing partner. She is attentive, fast, smart and enjoys having a job to do. While she can occasionally be spooky around unfamiliar objects, she is not dangerous and has never bucked, crow-hopped, or reared during my ownership. Because she is sensitive to rider cues and has been out of regular work, she is best suited for an intermediate or experienced rider. She also has a good groundwork foundation and is enjoyable to work with from the ground. She is respectful, willing to learn, and responds well to consistent handling. She also loads into a trailer well and has been trailed across the country without issue. She is not registered, as her dam was a rescue, but her sire carried notable bloodlines including Holidoc, Doc Hickory, Steel Bars, Genuine Doc, and Doc Quixote. She is currently being treated for recurrent uveitis. Her condition has responded well to treatment, and I am happy to discuss her care history and management with serious inquiries. Any prospective owner should be prepared to continue monitoring and managing this condition as needed. This is not an easy decision, and finding the right home is far more important to me than a quick sale. I am looking for someone who will appreciate her kind nature, continue her development, and provide her with the care and attention she deserves.
