Sweet donkey gelding. He is almost 14hh and is around 20 years old. I got him last year as a sort of project. He had been a guard donkey for cattle and wasn’t really keen on people touching him. He’s slow to trust, but responds well to calmness and patience. He responds really well to clicker training and he now can be haltered and groomed and have his feet done. I have not ridden him yet, but he does great having a bareback pad on him. No problems with the cinch. Just introduced a snaffle bit. He had all his shots last year and his teeth floated. He is due for annual vaccinations. Regularly dewormed and was trimmed by the farrier in May. He struggled to stay in good condition last winter, but did reasonably well with a beet pulp mash. As soon as the pasture greened up, he was turned out and has come back nicely with no extra feed. He is very muscular and I suspect he was proud-cut. Reason for selling: I had intended for him to be for my husband to ride when we go out with our little group of saddle donkeys. But, he is obsessed with my husband’s mare horse and we can’t keep them together, which makes turn-out time complicated. He ignores our other mare horse and can be penned with her with no problem. He does fine with the other donkeys (geldings and jennies). He was confirmed to be a gelding by the vet (testosterone levels checked). Good home a must. Has to be knowledgeable about donkeys and their unique dietary needs and behaviors (they’re not stubborn, just cautious!). Kind of a light-colored pinkish, cream roan color.
