Sonny is our 6year-old, 16.1 hand MorganXDutch cross gelding (he is 3/4 Morgan and 1/4 Dutch). Well rounded, and a gentleman on the ground, he is the tall dark and handsome total package!
He is very laid back and a quick learner, ready for whatever you have for him!
Sonny is broke to ride and drive, seasoned both ways.
In the cart he is traffic safe and sensible. Stands to hitch and stands on the corners. Occasionally he will look at something odd but he doesn’t veer off or do anything silly. Big equipment doesn’t bother him and he is used to little dogs and other animals milling about while he is hitched up.
Under saddle he is willing and light on his aids. Ask once and his answer is always yes! He has extensive trail riding experience both by himself and in groups. He can be hesitant if he is the first horse to cross the creek but will go after a few moments, but if he is following another horse into the creek he walks right in without hesitation.
The grandkids like to get him out and mosey around the yard when they’re visiting. He is not considered a babysitter outside of the round pen, only because of his age and lightness to the leg.
No vices. He has some scar tissue on the back left leg but this does not affect his movement. PPE’s welcomed!
Keep him as a pleasure driver or trail horse and you’ll have a partner for many years to come. With his fluidity and scopey neck, we think he has potential in the Dressage and low level Eventing arenas if someone wanted to take him that route.
