Considering the sale of this handsome boy to the perfect home. Duke is a 9 year old buckskin BLM mustang gelding from the warm Springs HMA herd in Oregon, rounded up in October 2018 and adopted April 2019. He's had a few careers since then and is versatile enough to go in any direction. Beautful bucksin with one blue eye, he turns heads everywhere he goes.
Beginner safe, very gentle, friendly and pretty-much bomb proof, this horse has zero vices. At 15.2 hands high, he rides like a draft-cross and is built for any rider. For those on the shorter-side, he quite willingly comes to the mounting block for ease of getting on and off. He rides english, western, and drives. He's the absolute perfect trail partner, zero spook, crosses water (loves water), steps over logs, and crosses bridges without hesitation. Been on many overnight camping trips. He will be the first to meet you at the gate every time and loves a good snuggle.
This horse is very well broke, with a quiet and rather lazy disposition. He'd make a perfect addition to any lesson program! He can collect and extend when qued, has jumped some calvaletti and steps over ground poles, moves well off a rider's leg, and has beautiful ground manners. No buck, rear, bite, or other nastiness. He lunges, side-passes, backs and is a master of all the fundamental groundwork. He's fun to drive and was previously used by the Amish to take the kids to school daily. He even knows how to lay down on que! Whatever you want to do, Duke is your man.
He's an incredibly easy keeper, maintenance free, with excellent feet, and up to date on all vaccines, deworming, and farrier work. He trailers well, is perfect for the farrier without being held, is hobble trained, and will stand tied quietly all day if you ask. He's not the biggest fan of cold water, but will stand to be bathed, brushed, and groomed like a gentleman.
Ready to go in any direction, He's much too nice of a horse to sit like he does now and we are offering him for sale on that consideration alone, since I'm headed back to school in just a few weeks.
