Boomer is an experienced, handsome gelding. He is his happiest out on the trails with his friends where he can relax. He is very much an "in your pocket" type of horse. He has excellent ground manners and pleasure to handle. We are looking for an experienced home that understands his strengths and limitations. PROS- Excellent trail horse, ties, bathes, stands for farrier, respects fences, lunges, goes through water, over logs, crosses bridges, has ranch-horse experience. Boomer is great on the trail. He is comfortable navigating, following or being in the middle. CONS- PLEASE READ Boomer DOES NOT ENJOY AREA WORK, and his anxiety can increase significantly when he is in an arena. He has reared/bucked when his anxiety gets the best of him, which is why we feel strongly that he needs and EXPERIENCED rider who understands horse behavior and is comfortable handling a horse with anxiety. He doesn't need a strong hand or someone that's rough he needs quiet hands that can read his behavior. He tells you what he is comfortable with and what he is not. We have got him checked out by the vet many times to make sure it was not pain related. We purchased Boomer for my adult daughter to do barrels and western gaming but he has made it very clear that the arena environment is not something he enjoys. We believe in listening to what our horses are telling us rather than continuing to push them into something that makes them uncomfortable. Boomer previously worked as a ranch horse until he suffered an eye injury and was sent to auction. When we got him, his injury was causing him pain, so the eye was removed. He has adjusted very well, and his missing eye does not interfere with his ability to trail ride. We do wonder if some of his arena anxiety may be related to what he experienced with his eye injury, but we cannot say for certain. He is a horse we truly wish we could keep but we already have trail horses and we feel Boomer deserves a home where his strengths can really shine and to find his person. We are not looking for just anyone to buy him. We will be extremely picky and will need references. He deserves the RIGHT person. Please reach out for more pictures, video's. We would even love to take you on a trail ride.
