Rosco | 22-Year-Old AQHA Gelding | $4,500 OBO Rosco is a 22-year-old, papered Quarter Horse gelding with a genuinely sweet, kind-hearted personality and so much to offer his next person. He is the type of horse that makes you appreciate the value of a good, seasoned horse—one who has been there, seen things, and has plenty of miles and experience to share. Rosco has spent the majority of his life as a trail horse and has many miles under his belt. He has a comfortable familiarity with the trail and would be happiest with someone who enjoys getting out, exploring, and simply spending time in the saddle. He also knows his way around an arena and has a solid foundation. He knows his walk, trot, and canter, although his canter is understandably a little rusty after his time off. He is neck-reined, has lateral movement, and has an excellent stop. For the past six years, Rosco has largely been sitting, and he has not been ridden in approximately two years. He is now being brought back into a consistent routine and given the opportunity to get back to work. He has been very nice to have around and is proving that age and time off have not taken away his willingness to learn or his desire to please. We believe Rosco would be best suited for someone looking for a dependable companion for trail riding, casual arena work, and enjoying time together rather than a high-level performance prospect. He could be a wonderful fit for an advanced beginner or a younger rider with appropriate adult or trainer supervision. More than anything, Rosco deserves a person who will appreciate him for what he is and give him the time, consistency, and love he deserves. At 22, Rosco does have an age-related sway back. With continued conditioning and developing his topline, we believe his overall muscling and appearance can improve. He is current on teeth, feet, vaccinations, and deworming and is receiving consistent care. Rosco has a lot of life, experience, and love left to give. He may not be the youngest horse in the barn, but that is part of what makes him special. He has years of experience to offer and the potential to become the kind of horse that teaches his person just as much as they teach him. We would love to see him find a home where he can be appreciated, enjoyed, and given the opportunity to spend his years being someone's trusted partner. Located in Creswell, Oregon
