Big Star has been ridden and successfully shown by Cira Beck and Jeronimo Lobo, building an impressive show record along the way. He has marked scores ranging from 215 to 216.5 in the Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 Open. The best part about Big Star is that you certainly do not need a PhD to ride and enjoy a gelding of his caliber. For as talented as he is in the show pen, he is equally patient, forgiving, and user-friendly. Our 7-year-old daughter has ridden him, taken lessons on him, and taken him across the obstacle course more times than we can count. He takes care of her and remains patient every step of the way. When friends come over, Big Star is the horse we put them on because we know he will take care of them. They have even been able to do some of the reining maneuvers on him, which speaks volumes about his good mind, patience, and willingness to adjust to whoever is in the saddle. Big Star's potential certainly isn't limited to the reining pen. With his natural cadence and beautiful way of moving, he would make an excellent ranch riding horse. He can extend beautifully at both the trot and lope, then transition smoothly back down when asked. We have started introducing him to more of the ranch riding work as well, including trotting over poles, backing through them, and side passing over them.
