Everyone meet Morty, a stunning 19 y/o grade appaloosa gelding standing at 15.2hh who is ready for his new home. After much thought I am making the hard decision of selling, purely due to my personal skill level not matching him. I got Morty as my very first horse and he needs someone more stern than I am. He’s smart and knows how to push your buttons, and over time I have learned that is not my ideal style of horse. He is an amazing horse and would make someone very happy. On the ground he is an absolute angel. I can crawl all between his legs and hug on him and he will tolerate it, but under saddle he pushes against you and needs someone who can push back. Don’t let his age fool you, Morty has the spirit and heart of a young 12 year old! Sweet on the ground while never failing to bring some laughs, this guy would be an amazing project for a more experienced rider or a nice pasture pal to look at.
Morty has ridden both english and western, and has some incredible potential for jumping with proper leg maintenance. He crosses water, goes over train tracks, and will go through ravines with some good push. He would make an excellent trail horse with the right training. We have done cow pushing clinics and he did amazing with those too! He does amazing in a mixed herd or with a buddy, but can be by himself as well.
I will be asking several questions about his care plan before I sell. I would also like to remain in contact after his sale for occasional updates on my boy. This boy has been an amazing horse and I care deeply about ensuring he is going to a very good home.
