"Storm" is a talented, athletic mare looking for a serious new eventing or sporthorse home. She was not started until her 3 year old year and only had 6 starts on the track. She was owned/bred/trained by the same owner her whole racing career. After modest results on the track, she was restarted as a sport prospect, where they discovered she has some serious scope and bravery. I purchased her about a year ago as my long term eventing partner. I was hoping to bring her along to the upper levels and have been taking each step slow with her to set her up for the most successs. My life circumstances changed, and I will be moving abroad and have decided it's best to find her a home here in the US where she can continue her blooming eventing career.
She has lovely gaits, a smooth trot and a rythmic, huge-strided canter. She can turn on the forehand and leg yield. Her adjustability in her gaits has improved tremendously. With time and stregth she will have a really lofty trot. She knows how to do simple changes and will start on her lead changes soon. So far she is naturally balanced and has offered lead changes on her own. I actually think she would excel as a straight dressage horse as well, her gaits and conformation really set her up for success in that discipline.
Storm has been jumping 2'3"-2'7" (BN) courses, but really is unimpressed with the lower heights. Has jumped 1.0+ and has the scope for 1.10 at least. Has been cross country schooling and happily jumps everything. She has been to at least half a dozen shows, from combined tests (starter), dressage (USEA starter & BN and USDF Training level), hunter/jumper (0.80s), and horse trials (starter & beginner novice). Also she has gone trail riding with a group and led the whole way! Trailers very well and is calm to just tie to the trailer. Lots of blue ribbons already. Dressage score PB is 26.5 (73.5) at Starter.
While she is extremely talented, she is still green. Not a beginners horse, but would make a competent junior/amateur or professional very happy. As with most TBs she has a strong work ethic and does best having a job.
Another major plus is she is extremely sweet. "Just happy to be here" attitude, she really wants a best friend. Currently lives out full time and is bottom of the totem pole.
This mare deserves only the best home! Located in Catlett, VA (northern Virginia).
