* Low maintenance; requires shoes for rocky terrain and road work. He is barefoot at the moment. Trimmed recently.
Colt is a versatile guy with a great attitude. He has miles of trail experience, both leading and following, and truly tries to do everything asked of him. He has all his basic buttons set and is a great listener. He’s been hooked to a cart and line-driven. While it’s been a little while and he’d benefit from a refresher, he was a natural at it and handled it all with ease. He’s been to the fair, handled the stalls like a pro, and has been shown in draft halter and local fun shows (slow contesting pattern work). He is steady on the road and has even been ridden by a 7-year-old. He has done obstacle course challenges, night rides and 100 of miles of trails, been in a few parades all handling it well.
He is an easy keeper and will get fat off air He stands tied at the trailer, bathes well, and is getting to be a gentleman for the farrier (though he’s still needs some work). He does not like his ears touched, so he’ll need a patient hand there. At the moment he does not neck rein. He’s currently in a mixed herd and gets along well, though being five, he loves to "horse around."
While he is safe, Colt is still young and needs a steady, confident hand so I am not listing him as a kids horse right now. He would be an incredible partner for a small adult looking for a sturdy, "no-limit" horse who is ready to go in any direction. While with us he will continue to see trails and if anything spooks him or he questions what I am asking him to do it will become his entire personality till it is boring.
