Magnus is an athletic, sweet, and very special 9 year old solid bay thoroughbred gelding. He loves people and attention and absolutely adores his horse friends. He is the first to meet you at the gate, whether it's me or a complete stranger. He loves cuddles and interactions and will stop what he is doing to come and follow you around to get your love and attention.

Magnus spent his first four years on the track but never raced. He then went on to be a trail horse but was “too tall”. He was traded for a shorter horse with the intention to be a barrel racing horse but was “too lazy”. Then he came to me to be an adventure horse. We have covered countless miles of trail together in the high desert and the hills and mountains around us. Mags has proven to be a great partner. He goes out alone or in a group. He is very surefooted and athletic and has great endurance. I have taken him through a couple of Training on the Trail Clinton Anderson type two day clinics where we worked on exercises, overcame obstacles, and cantered as a group out in huge open fields on a loose rein. Magnus has just the right amount of go for me, never lazy but also not hot, and is able to cover hours and miles on the trail. He is willing and responsive. He is strong and healthy and in the two and a half years or so that he has been with me has never had any health issues whatsoever.

Sadly my husband suffered an injury at work and was recently forced to medically retire earlier than what we had originally planned. Owning ten horses we are put in a position where we need to downsize to get our cost and overhead down to match our new budget. On a last in, first out basis, I will have to find Magnus a new home. In preparation for that and to give Magnus a great chance at attracting the right kind of future, we placed him in 60 days of professional training to get his arena work tuned up with the very talented Jasmine Odell with Odell Show Horses. He has just returned from training and is now soft, supple and responsive in the arena. He has learned collection and how to carry himself in beautiful form and was learning the beginnings of lateral work. Magnus is a dream to ride. He has three amazing gaits and is so athletic, graceful and elegant. I think he would do great in disciplines like Western dressage. He would definitely thrive in a home where he could continue to go out on adventures on the trails. What we are looking for is a perfect situation where Magnus will continue to be as loved as he is here. He truly is such a special horse and has so much going for him. Because he is a Thoroughbred we prefer that his new owner is an intermediate rider, or at least an advanced beginner working with a trainer. He will need a home where he has at least one horse friend, turnout, and access to a stall or shelter.
