If you are looking for an incredible, brave trail horse with a ton of common sense, meet Frodo. He is an 11-year-old registered APHA gelding who loves activity and is willing to go absolutely anywhere you point him. He is exceptionally bold, has no spook, handles new environments with confidence, and brings a steady, stoic work ethic to every ride. Frodo loves having a job and thrives when active. He is fully capable, comfortable, and happy doing light trail and arena work at the W/T 3 to 4 times per week. He transitions smoothly, holds a steady rhythm, and is the ultimate, clear-headed partner for someone who loves to explore. To keep him feeling his absolute best, he is retired from cantering, jumping, or heavy performance work due to mild back arthritis. His condition is highly manageable—he thrives and stays completely comfortable on 24/7 pasture turnout, which keeps him moving naturally. Ground manners are good as long as you keep a boundary with him. He can get pushy if spoiled. Leads and ties, stands well for the vet and farrier, and loads without fuss. I am fully transparent about his history and will only consider great homes that respect his walk/trot physical boundaries while enjoying his amazing, adventurous personality. Up to date on vaccines, Coggins, and farrier care. His ideal rider will know how to keep boundaries because confidence is everything with him. He was born in Charleston, WV and trained there. He then lived in Union, WV and was a pasture pet for 2 years until the owner had to relocate out of state and could not take along. Professional touch up training for 4 months (March - June 2026) in Northern VA and did well with the workload and the change of environment. Showed at the WV State Fair in 2026 where he demonstrated a calm attitude with a willing energy even while the concert was playing in the grandstand during the horse show.
