Whether he’s facing rough country, a long day on the ranch, or carrying one of our kids or grandma down the trail, Ranger handles whatever comes his way with a cool head and plenty of confidence. He’s the kind you can trust to get the job done and get you home safely. Ranger is a 5-year-old, 15.2 hand Draft Cross gelding with that big, stout build everyone loves, all wrapped up in that shimmering bay roan coat. Most importantly, he is safe for any level of rider and has been ridden extensively by our own kids. When it comes to the trails, Ranger fears no country! He crosses creeks and rivers, climbs steep hills, handles rocky terrain, steps over logs and fallen timber, crosses ditches and washouts, pushes through thick brush, handles deep mud and water, and travels confidently through wide-open country. Wildlife, dogs, traffic, farm machinery, bicycles, flapping tarps, and unexpected obstacles don’t get him worked up. He’ll lead the pack, follow behind, ride in the middle, or head out alone. And Ranger isn’t just safe—he is BROKE! He’s one-hand broke, neck reins with ease, moves off your leg, backs willingly, and lopes beautiful, collected circles on a loose rein. He’s soft in the bridle, has an easy stop, and is enjoyable whether you’re riding in the arena or covering miles on the trails. He’s even got some tricks! Ranger will lay down on command and sit up like a dog, and he’s always happy to show off when there’s an audience. Ranger has also been used around the ranch gathering and pushing cattle, sorting, checking pastures and fence lines, opening and closing gates, and handling the everyday jobs that make a seasoned ranch horse.
