Sundance has had extensive experiences in her five years under saddle! She has explored from mountain trails to alpine lakes at high altitudes. She has ventured from sand dunes to the oceans waves! Small rivers are doable and she even posed for wedding photos in Garden of the Gods. She is experienced at horse camping and does well when high lined over night. She routinely trail rides with five to ten dogs. Sundance has actively participated in a live nativity where she was a mount for the Roman Guards. The guards at the gate are loud and abrupt. Fires light the set. Thousands of visitors go through the village in the weekend event. Sundance needs a calm and confident rider as she can be nervous. With a strong rider, she excels. She is not finished yet. I’m not even sure where she is the most happy. Arenas often allow her to relax quicker. But she is a good sport to explore the countryside. Since I hate arena work, Sundance and I have spent our time on trails. But she has been working with a trainer on foundational skills such as haunch/forehand turns and side passing. She picks up her correct leads and knows how to back. On the ground she is respectful and easy to handle. She stands quietly when tied to the trailer, loads and hauls well and is well behaved for the farrier. She truly has no vices. Sundance has been very healthy with no lameness issues or illnesses. She is a princess and does best with routine joint injections and chiropractic services. Preventative ulcer treatments are every six months. Her anxiousness gave her mild to moderate ulcers. Keeping her comfortable allows her to relax and shine. Her hock and stifle injections were done beginning of the year and her next dental is due the end of October. I have had Sundance since birth. But I am finally willing to admit that my lack of confidence is a hindrance for her and is limiting her ability to shine. So we are looking for the right place where she can grow and flourish.
