If you are looking for a horse who is great in the arena and genuinely gentle with kids, Silas is your guy -- with full transparency about what he needs right now. In the arena, when his buddy is in there with him, he is steady, safe, and does his job beautifully. The kind of horse you enjoy riding. Full honesty on where he is at: Silas has severe separation anxiety. If his buddy leaves the arena or is out of sight, he becomes very anxious, hard to manage, and not safe to ride. If his environment changes - new barn, arena, shows, trailering somewhere new - his anxiety spikes severely. Right now, he cannot be taken out alone or be expected to work in a new place without his buddy. GOOD NEWS: This IS trainable. With consistent, patient separation training and slow desensitization work, we believe he can make huge progress. We just don't have the time he deserves to dedicate to that program. IDEAL HOME: Experienced horse person or someone who is working with a trainer who understands separation anxiety and has time. Has a steady buddy/companion and a consistent home arena/environment to start from - not a home that needs to haul out to shows right away. Someone who appreciates his gentle, kid-kind nature and arena talent and is willing to invest in him. Must understand: until that training is done, kids should only be around/handled with him when his buddy condition is met and under adult supervision. We love this horse and want him to land with someone who sees both his talent and his potential. If you have the setup and the time, you will get a very special horse.
