Mak is a striking bay gelding with a look that is impossible to forget! He has a rich, glossy coat, four matching white socks, a bold bald face, and two captivating blue eyes. With his attractive build, strong hindquarter, well-defined muscling, and naturally balanced appearance, Mak is every bit as eye-catching as he is talented. He is dual registered AQHA and APHA, making him diverse for a number of performance horse events.
His pedigree is just as impressive as his presence. Sired by the legendary Spooks Gotta Whiz (LTE: $346,000+; progeny earnings: $16 million+) and out of Rey Haida Rey, a daughter of the great Dual Rey, Mak represents a cross of elite reining and cutting bloodlines. His dam has lifetime earnings of $3,300+ and progeny earnings; $9,000+. This is a pedigree that brings together proven performance and versatility.
Mak is no stranger to the show pen, with $7,411.93 in lifetime earnings and experience competing in L1, L2, L3, and L4 Non Pro classes, as well as L2, L3, and L4 Open classes. He has marked some impressive scores, including a 213.5 and a 218! He has that signature Spooks Gotta Whiz style, with stylish spins, solid stops, appealing circles, and smooth lead changes. Mak is a pleasure to watch in the arena, with the talent and show experience to back up his good looks.
But, that's not all he can do! Mak has a great mind for learning new things and has been exposed to a variety of activities outside the show pen. We have started tracking and roping the sled off him, along with sorting and gathering cattle. One of Mak's standout features is his beautiful extended trot. He has an abundance of cadence, carries himself beautifully, and transitions seamlessly. He is naturally expressive in his movement and makes even the simplest things look good. Mak also shines when it comes to obstacles and trail riding. He navigates our obstacle course with ease, crosses bridges, travels creek beds, and goes through water without hesitation. He stays surefooted over poles, carries the American flag, and even interacts with the ball. Out on the trails, he is quiet, willing, and happy to go wherever you point him.
With his proven show record, exceptional pedigree, striking appearance, and exposure to different environments and activities, Mak offers a combination that is hard to find. Whether your goals are to continue competing in reining, explore ranch events, work cattle, or enjoy a partner on the trails, Mak is a talented, versatile gelding with plenty to offer.
