4-Year-Old Appendix Quarter Horse Mare – Safe, Sweet & Versatile Project
Zana Overview
Offered for sale: A sweet-natured, four-year-old Appendix Quarter Horse mare with an exceptional brain and solid foundation. Bred for Quarter Horse racing, it was clear early in her training that speed wasn't her calling, making her an ideal candidate for a riding horse. She has since been brought along as a fun project, proving to be dependable, easygoing, and exceptionally versatile.
Riding & Temperament
Versatile Foundation: Comfortably ridden in both English and Western tack.
Suitable for Various Riders: Has been ridden by multiple riders over the last few months, including beginners and children. Given her young age and green status, a program with trainer involvement is recommended for novice riders to continue her education.
Movement & Pace: She is a kick ride who naturally takes a more relaxed pace. Holding a crop is usually enough to encourage forward momentum without needing to use it. Once she gets her mind moving forward, she is light off the aids and very responsive. She exhibits beautiful movement with a huge front-end reach.
Behavior: Zero vices—no cribbing, weaving, kicking, or biting. She has a great mind, takes new things in stride, and has shown no red flags or behavioral concerns.
Ground Manners & Personality
Extremely sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented.
Constantly attentive on the ground, always looking to see if you have a treat or a scratch to offer.
Health, Hooves & Maintenance
Hooves: Currently barefoot with excellent, strong feet (regularly praised by her farrier). Pulled shoes upon starting turnout time and has not needed them since.
Health: Up to date on all routine care. Full annual vaccines and dental float completed last month.
History: No known injuries, health limitations, or maintenance needs.
Appearance
Gorgeous dark liver chestnut coat in the summer months.
Eye-catching, mixed blonde, brown, and white mane and tail year-round.
Potential
With her quiet mind, clean health, and adaptable nature, she is ready to be finished in any direction—dressage, hunter/jumper, western pleasure, trail, or general all-around performance.
