"Surge" is a big, tall gelding by Bernardini out of Dream Rush, by Wild Rush, that has an elegant presence. He is my husband’s horse and he has been on the back burner due to my husband’s schedule. He is ridden, but sporadically. He’s very willing and businesslike under saddle, but needs to work on basics since his training has been inconsistent. I did enter him in two virtual dressage shows at Intro level, and he scored a 70.0% and won one of his clases and had a 66.56% and 65.313% in his other classes (first and second place). With more consistent work, he will make a beautiful dressage horse. He’s been over small jumps as well.He has a nice natural way of carrying himself. He can be wiggly in the crossties if he's not worked a lot. Sometimes we tack him in his stall and he's much easier. As soon as you put the bridle on, he's calm. Surge needs his own person who will give him the time and attention he deserves. This video was taken the other day after pulling Surge from the field after some time off. He was barefoot in the video but now has front shoes. (Though I can't let minors test ride him, we'd be more than happy to have a junior's trainer ride.) He needs an advanced rider simply because he's a big horse and can get strong with riders who are not used to a big, forward moving OTTB.
