He’s proven safe with unexpected wildlife and just as steady with the chaos of everyday ranch life—dirt bikes, skid loaders, trains, busy roads, barking dogs, you name it. He’ll ride off alone just as happily as he will with a group—nothing changes his easygoing demeanor. He’s even accustomed to gunfire and pays no mind to it.

Our kids hop off the school bus, slide on his back bareback, loop nothing more than a little string around his neck, and guide him absolutely anywhere they want to go. He’s also proven he can do just about anything the kids dream up. Our 8-year-old has taught him to go English, and he looks absolutely adorable loping around in an English saddle, stepping through trot poles, and even popping over little jumps with perfect rhythm and a big-hearted willingness.
