A horse can learn a lot through training, but genuine kindness, patience, and common sense are gifts few horses are born with. Pecos is one of the few. Pecos is a 4-year-old AQHA registered grey gelding standing 14.3hh with a beautiful grey coat, and the best disposition. He has a kind eye, stout and big boned, and the sort of quiet, willing attitude that is becoming harder and harder to find. Backed by an impressive pedigree, he offers all the quality people appreciate in a nice Quarter Horse, but his greatest asset is his mind. He has a gentle, patient nature that cannot be taught and carries himself with the confidence and maturity of a seasoned gelding. An old soul. He is the same horse every time you pull him out of the pasture, whether he's been ridden yesterday or two-weeks ago. On the ground, Pecos is everything you want one to be. Easy to catch, easy to saddle, and always happy to see you. He stands tied quietly, bathes, loads, hauls, and behaves well for the vet and farrier. Whether life around the barn is calm or chaotic, Pecos takes it all in stride. Under saddle, Pecos is the definition of a confidence builder. He is patient, forgiving, and honest. The gelding who takes care of his rider instead of looking for reasons not to. He has become a favorite for riders who simply want to relax and enjoy their horse rather than have to manage one. He will happily walk along on a loose rein, has a comfortable jog, and an easy lope that anyone can enjoy. His buttons are user-friendly, making him suitable for a wide variety of riders. Out on the trail is where Pecos truly shines. He travels through rough country with confidence and common sense, carefully navigating steep hillsides, creek crossings, fallen trees, mud, and rocky terrain. He is incredibly sure-footed and takes care of his rider every step. If there is a path through it, Pecos will find it. He has spent so many hours in the woods checking cattle and exploring country that many horses never see. He handles difficult situations with a level head and quiet confidence. On one occasion, we stepped him off into some very deep mud- buried him nearly up to his belly. A situation that would have caused most horses to panic and fight. Pecos never lost his composure. He stayed calm, trusted his rider, and quietly worked his way through it. That story sums him up perfectly! Traffic, tractors, dogs, cattle, farm equipment, and everyday commotion
