The color to turn heads, a personality to fall in love with, and training to enjoy for years to come! Smurf is a 16.0 hand 4 year old percheron x draft cross gelding with more personality and personality than you can pack into a golden retriever puppy.
Smurf is a big, handsome blue roan Percheron-cross gelding with a whole lot of talent, a versatile skill set, and the kind of personality that makes you look forward to spending time with him. Smurf walks, trots, and lopes with ease, rides bareback him bareback in a halter and just enjoy! He is the heart and soul of our barn and is always excited to see people!
For the English-minded rider, Smurf has a floaty, lofty, uphill way of going and is eager and brave to jumps. Switch to Western, and he is happy to settle in and take things low and slow. He neck reins, turns around his haunches both ways, and sidepasses to gates to help you open them. He is handy enough to go out and gather or move cattle between pastures, load feeder cattle on trucks, or work them through the tub. Whether you want a horse to enjoy in the arena or one you can put to work out on the ranch, Smurf has plenty to offer. He has beautiful transitions from the Walk, Trot, Canter/Lope and will stop easily. He is light and easy to ride, without being overly sensitive.
Smurf is also full of the kind of practical skills, but he also has some tricks! He will lay down, sidepass over to the mounting block, and stand to make getting on a breeze. He loves to play with tarp, pull the sled, carry a flag, or mosey down to the Sonic for an ice cream.
He is easy to catch, saddle, bridle, load, and shoe, making the routine parts of owning a horse refreshingly simple. He is confident going over obstacles, like bridges, waters and brush and really enjoys getting out to see the world. On the trail, he is happy to take the lead and see what is ahead, but he is just as content to mosey along behind the group without needing to be out front if that's what his rider prefers!
Whether your plans include arena days, trail miles, helping around the ranch, or simply having a dependable partner to enjoy, Smurf is a versatile gelding with plenty of buttons to push and lots of fun still to be had! Smurf is up to date on dental, chiropractic work, farrier care, worming and coggins. Smurf also has X-RAYS and PPE on file so you can bid with confidence.
