If you’ve been searching high and low for a safe, gentle, and incredibly loving gelding you can trust with anyone in the family—your search ends here. Thunder is one of the kindest souls and sweetest horses we’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. Meet Blue Thunder—a stunning 7-year-old AQHA registered bay roan gelding, (DG Hayes Superstar) standing 15.2hh. His looks turn heads everywhere he goes—he’s built right, with a classic Quarter Horse look, a kind eye, and big, solid bone—but it’s his heart that truly sets him apart. Thunder has a calm, affectionate nature and a level-headed personality that’s just plain rare. He genuinely prefers human company over other horses, and when I say he’ll be your very best friend—I mean it. He’ll stand quietly for hours just to be brushed, petted, and pampered. He’ll drop his soft face into your lap and soak up every bit of love you have to give. He’s captured the hearts of everyone who’s met him, and for the entire year we’ve owned him, Thunder has been the very definition of “steady Eddie.” He’s the kind of horse you can count on, every time. Whether it’s your first ride or your thousandth, Thunder gives you peace of mind the moment you swing a leg over. This sweet boy is the ultimate trail partner. He’ll go wherever you point him—through creeks, up and down hills, over logs, or across rough terrain—always quiet, always willing. He doesn’t get worked up, doesn’t rush, and never gives you a reason to doubt him. He rides anywhere in the group and keeps the same steady pace—unless you ask otherwise. Thunder has carried me for over 50 miles of trail riding—with our youngest son riding along in a baby carrier when he was just 8 months old. That’s how much I trust him—he carried my most precious cargo with care and confidence through every step. We’ve ridden all over the Buffalo River Trail system, camped overnight, and spent days exploring Land Between the Lakes. Cars, foot traffic, other horses, wildlife—nothing rattles him. Before we owned him, he was no stranger to a hard days work, working the ranch, moving cattle or branding, gathering strays, as well as used for a pickup horse under the bright lights alongside bucking stock. He also served in a mounted search party, where he bravely rode through very treacherous terrain and woods so thick, you couldn’t see in front of you. His sweet and affectionate personality is one of his best quali
