Neck reins, leg and seat. Is sensitive in the mouth, must have a light hand. Turns on a dime, haunches and front. Transition from a walk to a canter and from a halt to a canter. Halts from a canter as well. Side passes and opens up gates. Steps over obstacles and through water. I have had confident beginners on him and does well in an arena setting. I have ridden him around my yard and does wonderful. I have ridden him around a neighborhood, full of people, cars, barking dogs, traps and strange sights and does good. Have ridden him through a pasture of cattle, knows how to do his job. He will make a great lesson horse or other arena type settings. Western Dressage, WE, Equitation ect. With his past owners I was told he was a team penner that got sour to the box. So he's been roped off of and done cattle in an arena setting. My experience, the only reason he is up for consideration is he is not suited for the job he was purchased for. Otherwise I would keep him as he is a character and loves attention and great in the arena and neighborhood. I tried taking him out on the trails, jigged the entire time and wouldn't pay attention. Being sold as an arena horse as he is amazing there and relaxing to ride with more whoa then go. On the trail, outside open pasture he is more go then whoa. Good to be tied, trailered, groomed, saddled, farrier ect. Easy keeper. Needs to be shod all four, soft feet. Registered Paint Gelding, 14 years old, 15.1hh, black and white overo. Newman Lake, Wa
