Unfortunately I am having to sell this exceptional boy as I have been battling disease and the lifestyle changes that come with it. I can no longer ride at all or care for multiple horses, thus I am forced to downsize. My top priority is finding the best forever home for him. I do not want to sell him to a highly competitive owner despite his immense competitive training. I want him to become part of someones family, loved and not just abandoned when he is no longer useful. Nikko is highly intelligent, learns and retains skills exceptionally, so he loves doing different things, going different places and so on. He does not need to be drilled into constantly, once he learns something, he remembers it to the extent that he can go years without doing it yet he still retains it. This ability to analyze, retain skills, makes him fantastic in many forms of cross training, which is what he enjoys as he gets bored easily haha. So if you are someone who competes casually, goes on adventures and/or cross trains etc as I used to, this is the horse for you. But if you are a person who does the same repetitive arena drill everyday, Nikko is not it. Nikko was trained in show jumping up to 1.30m, XC up to prelim, dressage up to level 4, equitation and advanced horsemanship, with additional training in western, western dressage and has experience on trails/camping. He can ride english & western, but is more so trained english. He is a bigger mover, more akin to a warmblood with powerful, elegant gates so don't expect the usual flat mover, he's got plenty of spring. He requires a rider with strong leadership, he is not suitable for timid or novice riders, seniors or children. He has no vices, temperamental issues or otherwise but is reflective of his rider, so someone confident will make him confident. A rider who can tell him what to do clearly, with competence, will get the absolute best out of him. Due to his mass amount of skills/experience, a rider with more technical experience is best as he has a lot of buttons, you need to know what to ask for. Being a TB he is naturally more sensitive and athletic, but he is an exceptionally mellow, chill dude. With the right rider he can ride on the buckle at any speed. He has very rare moments of excitement but nothing any competent rider cant handle, just put him to work. Due to the slow decline in my health over time, Nikko has not been jumped in some years as I moved to more dressage, equitation and trail riding. He has been out of consistent ridden work for a year but has been kept on daily lunge/arena work to maintain his physique, so he is perfectly ridable and in great shape. (The photo above is from May 2025) He is also excellent for trailering, any type of trailer, no issues there. Also great for clipping, vet, chiropractor, farrier etc. even standing for over 2hrs for a newer farrier in training. Overall not complicated, easy going.
