Rusty is a handsome, athletic horse with a very kind disposition. This guy came from a neglect situation as a yearling, he was the only horse that was not emaciated because he was in a big field with enough grass but no shelter. The sun had bleached his beautiful coat into a deep rust color and that’s where he got his name. We recognized he’d make a lovely riding horse early and by two he was great with groundwork and by three he was saddled and trail riding. This horse is absolutely lovely for a great riding kid looking for a project or just anyone who has the time and love to keep him on a consistent work schedule. He got too low on some cows a few years back and ended up making some scar tissue in his hind leg that shows up at the trot mildly, price reflect this ‘hitch’. It does not bother him, the tissue restricts movement slightly but it is not painful, he loves to work moderately. He would not be suitable for jumping or endurance riding but thrives in a moderate consistent work load. We can also pull him out after months of no riding (when I’m on the road or at shows) and he doesn’t offer anything stupid- maybe a bit ‘looky’ to start but no bucking or rearing or anything goofy. He has been ridden both English and western, doesn’t mind either way. Rusty is now around 8 years old and a lovely solid citizen that is ready for his forever person.
