Makai (Hanauma Bay)

2014 Chestnut Thoroughbred gelding. 16.0-1 hands

Makai is looking for a home where he is ridden mostly western. He has been ridden English primarily the past 3 years, but just does not enjoy it. The ideal home is western and casual riding with lots of time outside the arena on trails or fields. His ideal rider/owner is an advanced intermediate to experienced rider who is very soft and patient and wants an intelligent and forward horse. He is sweet with a goofy streak, and very smart- he has a tendency to get bored when ridden the majority of time in the arena. He would likely enjoy barrels or similar western events on a casual basis since he loves a good fast canter. He is currently being introduced to barrel racing. Maintained barefoot for the past 3 years (not your typical Thoroughbred feet!), and only race 4 times when younger. He has a big hip, compact body and is built more like a Thoroughbred/Quarter horse cross. Currently kept on pasture (with free-choice grass hay in winter) with a ration balancer daily, no supplements. He has done a few local shows and hunter paces, obstacle courses and has been introduced to basic cattle herd work. He loves going to Masterson for a hack, and as the summer weather allows will be taken out on more trail rides or exposure to working cattle. Asking slightly over mid x,xxx's (starting with a 6, and negotiable to the right home).
