Raphael is a seasoned mountain horse with an impressive background in dressage. His exceptional breeding shows through in his athleticism, intelligence, and willing disposition.
🐎 Trail & Packing Experience
Raphael has been packed and has led multi-day pack strings. He’s confident and safe in the mountains, accustomed to sharing the trail with other users throughout the San Juan Forest in Colorado and the BLM lands of New Mexico.
🐎 Arena Training & Dressage Skills
In the arena, Raphael is just as comfortable as he is on the trail. He knows his leads, and has a nice w/t/c He turns on the haunches and forehand, leg yields, and has flawless transitions. With natural collection, perfect cadence, and responsiveness to seat and leg, he’s supple and soft in hand and under saddle.
🐎 Exposure & Versatility
This horse is solid. He’s been exposed to countless obstacles both in and out of the arena—you can see plenty of proof in my YouTube videos! He’s even worked cows and takes everything in stride.
🐎 Manners & Handling
Raphael is a gentleman to handle—easy to catch, groom, clip, bathe, fly spray, worm, and shoe. He ties, stands quietly, and loads into the trailer with enthusiasm. His ground manners are impeccable.
🐎 Personality
Gentle, curious, and kind, Raphael loves people and enjoys his herd, though he sits near the bottom of the pecking order. He’s a true partner with a big heart and an adventurous spirit.
