Yankee, our 17 year old Sand Wash basin mustang mare, is looking for her new forever partner. She has solid all-around Western training. We have ridden her in 4-H, western pleasure, trail, and gymkhana events. She is about 14.2 hands, responds well to leg cues, has smooth gaits and a soft mouth, picks up the correct leads, and can be ridden in a snaffle. She trailers, stands well for the farrier and vet, and has extensive trail experience around bikes, cars, strollers, hikers, and other common distractions. She follows other horses easily on a trail and does not kick or act out. Yankee is not a "whoa" or "go" horse - but prefers a steady, even pace. She is "watchy" and can spook in place or jump a few steps sideways when surprised. She does best with a rider who provides calm, confident direction. She thrives on a strong relationship with her primary rider. Yankee is 100% sound and healthy, up to date on vaccines, dental, and farrier care. She has strong, barefoot-friendly feet, wears blankets easily, and thrives on timothy hay and minimal grain. Yankee is deeply connected to her rider, knows her name, and will make a wonderful forever partner for someone who wants a mustang mare with heart, personality, and lots of miles left to give. We are only parting with her as my daughter has grown very tall. It is critcally important to us that Yankee goes to a kind, loving, forever home.
