2014 OTTB Bay Gelding | Honest, Athletic Jumper & Eventer

“Dear Old Dad” aka Pops is a 2014, 15.3hh Thoroughbred gelding with a big heart, plenty of personality, and the athleticism to match. Because of an exciting new opportunity for his current rider, Pops is being offered for someone ready to appreciate a talented, honest partner with a little spark.

Pops has been in a consistent program with a young rider for the past two years and is confidently jumping 2’6–2’9, with competition experience through Beginner Novice (2’7”) and Novice (2’11”), and schooling Training (3’3”). He is careful, forward-thinking to the jumps, and balanced between the fences, genuinely enjoying his job. In the show ring he is clean and competitive at 1m and below, and he is equally happy tackling Novice-level eventing questions.

Cross-country is where Pops really shines — brave, straightforward, and especially fond of the water (earning him the nickname “Baby Shark”). He has also been out on trails, is comfortable bareback, even bridleless, showcasing his underlying honesty.

Pops is a sensitive Thoroughbred who thrives with a confident, tactful rider. He is not suited for a beginner, but in capable hands he is incredibly genuine and rewarding. He gives his rider everything and appreciates someone who can channel his energy thoughtfully.
